Mangoes in Rogue
Whenever someone mentions mangoes, the first thing I think of is "My, that was a yummy mango" but this is a pretty niche thing to quote to someone that didn't spend hours playing Rogue as a kid.When you start to get hungry in the game of Rogue, you have to eat some generic "food," or a fruit. I had always known the fruit in this game to be a mango, but as it turns out, my childhood experiences playing Rogue are not representative of every version of the game.

I went in to pick up my Switch 2 preorder and they kept handing me Switch 2-branded cassette tapes and stuff (in that type of packaging with a plastic blister between two layers of cardboard) and then acted like they had done their job and I was like uhh no I ordered the console and then they never found one in the back so as the store increasingly became my parents' kitchen I poked around and found a disassembled one in two open boxes that someone had returned but left some kind of credit card/camera flash enabling card in the back of the machine, with the guy's name on it. It had a button to switch between 4 total functions and seemed to be designed for tourists. After that, we went outside and got in a giant gold three-axled RV shaped sort of like a bullet called a Sophia and talked to some guy for a while. He called a small black dog into the RV, who ran through the driver door and out the side door extremely fast. The guy told the dog to run home, and as the dog went through the grass-covered street, he was bitten by a small snake and freaked out. Some other guy walked up and picked up the dog and the snake let go of the dog and bit the guy's hand. After a while we watched the Sophia drive out of a small parking lot and marveled at how its middle wheels compensated for the height problem as it drove off a curb.

Joust repair log
From 2017 to early 2020, I was repairing a Joust cabinet that we had acquired from a rural area. The person who sold it to us claimed that it had been in a hotel lobby for years. They also claimed that it had been "working like a champ" up until we came to see it. Regardless, it was a good price even if it was not running, so we gladly picked it up.
